Hospital waiting lists are slowly coming down, at least in official statistics,1 although some of this may be from cleaning the lists by deleting duplicates and removing people who no longer need to be seen.2 Some waits remain very long in our area—such as those for the “first fit” clinic in neurology, where appointments should be offered within two weeks of referral3 but which had a nine month wait when last reported.4
