Thank you for your inquiry regarding the exclusion of the abdominal aortic junctional tourniquet (AAJT) from our scoping review and the inclusion of Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon of the Aorta as a key part of our protocol, despite recent literature. These decisions were based on the available published literature at the time of this study concerning the management of non-compressible torso hemorrhage in both civilian and military austere settings. In this response, we will clarify the procedures of our scoping review and discuss the reasons for excluding AAJT and implementing REBOA for non-compressible abdominal hemorrhage. Our team initially identified nine articles on AAJT through an extensive and iterative search. Based on screening the titles and abstracts, five articles were excluded because they did not meet our inclusion criterion of “no animal studies.” Two articles from the Journal of Special Operations Medicine were excluded because articles from that journal were not available as open source; they required payment, and our study had no funding. Consequently, only two studies on AAJT underwent review.
