We agree with Sun’s central assertion: glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists are not “magic bullets” for the treatment of obesity.12 West and colleagues’ meta-analysis showed that discontinuation of pharmacotherapy often leads to weight regain, particularly when it has not been paired with structured behavioural interventions.3 Rather than viewing this as a pharmacological failure, we think it reflects a deeper need to embed such agents into systems that prioritise durable behaviour change.
