Spatial transcriptomics enables researchers to measure gene expression in tissue sections while preserving their spatial organisation. Unlike traditional RNA sequencing, which requires dissociating tissue samples and loses positional context, spatial transcriptomics studies cells in their natural environment, allowing the mapping of gene expression to tissue architecture. This provides insights into tissue structure, molecular interactions and how these processes drive the development of disease. 1
