Tuberculosis (TB) remains the leading cause of death globally from a single infectious agent. 1 Although many infected individuals do not develop TB disease, young children (particularly under 5 years of age) are at increased risk of severe manifestations, notably TB meningitis (TBM).2 Diagnosis in children remains challenging due to difficulties in obtaining suitable microbiological samples and the paucibacillary nature of paediatric disease.3
