The American Society of Regional Anesthesia 2015 guidelines suggest that pre-existing nerve damage constitutes a relative contraindication to peripheral nerve blocks (PNBs), although these guidelines emphasize systemic neuropathies rather than distal compressive neuropathies. 1 Cubital tunnel syndrome is the second most common compressive neuropathy, yet there is sparse data evaluating neurologic outcomes for different anesthesia types for ulnar decompressive surgery.2 We conducted a retrospective study to assess postoperative neurologic outcomes in patients undergoing ulnar decompression. We hypothesized that patient-reported postoperative neurologic improvement would be similar with PNB vers other anesthesia types.
