Recent Gut publications have emphasised the importance of optimising biopsy strategies and improving risk stratification for gastric cancer, including the RE.GA.IN. consensus,1 long-term natural history studies in Helicobacter pylori-infected individuals,2 and recent advances in precision risk assessment after H. pylori eradication.3 However, no agreement was reached on the role of the incisura angularis (IA) for the assessment of gastritis, and its sampling—previously required by the Updated Sydney System4—was left as optional.
