An estimated 50% of patients with SLE will develop lupus nephritis in their lifetime, with people of African descent more likely to have adverse kidney outcomes and reduced response to therapy. 1 2 Early response to therapy increases renal survival, with a modified primary efficacy response (mPERR) at 2 years, associated with up to a 75% and 67% reduced risk of impaired kidney function, end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) and death, respectively.1 Little is known of the clinical and pathological associates of kidney outcomes and response rates in the Anglo-Caribbean, a region with a high prevalence of SLE. We aimed to describe the response rates and outcomes in a cohort of lupus nephritis in Jamaica.
