Introduction Digestive dysfunction, including IBS, GERD, and dysmotility, is a common challenge for individuals with scleroderma and other complex conditions. Yoga therapy offers integrative strategies to support autonomic regulation and digestive motility through targeted breath, movement, and rest practices. This case series explores three individualized yoga therapy interventions for digestion-related symptoms in the context of chronic illness and disability.Material and Methods Three adult participants, ages 44–68, with diverse diagnoses, including systemic sclerosis, IBS, gastroparesis, and connective tissue disorder, engaged in individualized yoga therapy practices focused on rest and digest principles. Practices emphasized supine and seated postures, pranayama (notably 1:4:2 breath), gentle spinal rotations, and constructive rest pose, feet wide, knees together. Sessions occurred 1–2 times per week in-person, via Zoom, or by phone, with home practice integration. Each case was monitored for symptom change, feasibility, and participant-reported outcomes.Results All three participants demonstrated improvements in digestive regularity and symptom management.Terry, living with IBS and chronic stress, achieved consistent bowel regularity after adding constructive rest and supine rotations to her long-standing yoga routine.Pat, diagnosed with scleroderma and GERD, experienced reduced constipation and more consistent digestion using a combination of reclining, standing, and chair-based rest and digest sequences adapted to her mobility limitations.Lizzie, with gastroparesis and multiple neurological and connective tissue diagnoses, found immediate benefit from constructive rest and continued a modified version of Week 2 practices despite a concussion and chronic pain, reporting enhanced motility and decreased discomfort.All participants reported improved body awareness, autonomy in practice choices, and increased confidence in managing digestive symptoms.Conclusions Yoga therapy, tailored to individual abilities and layered with education about breath, posture, and nervous system regulation, may serve as an effective non-pharmacologic adjunct for digestive symptoms in people with complex medical conditions, including scleroderma. These patient-reported outcomes highlight the feasibility and benefits of personalized, accessible yoga practices for enhancing digestive health in real-world settings. Further research using mixed-methods designs is warranted to systematically evaluate efficacy across broader populations.
