We read with great interest the commentary by Benson Massey, which raises concerns about the recent widespread use of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) agonists.1 We offer an alternative perspective and suggest that these medications can also have positive effects on the GI system. Here, we present preclinical results that reposition these drugs for the treatment of colitis and colitis-associated cancer (CAC). Our results are consistent with a recent study showing the safety of GLP-1 agonists in patients with IBD.2
