In ‘Structural MRI alterations in children with form-deprivation amblyopia: a propensity score-matched case-control study’, Zhang et al1, focus on the most severe form of amblyopia, form deprivation amblyopia, which results from significant visual impairment during the critical period of visual development. Enrolled participants underwent 3.0 T structural MRI. Cortical regions were automatically parcellated and subcortical volumes were derived using described methods. Through these methods, this study identified regions within and outside of the visual pathways disrupted in children with form deprivation amblyopia (FDAM).
