During the COVID-19 pandemic, we reported an increased number of cases of severe iron deficiency anaemia (sIDA) (haemoglobin (Hb) ≤50 g/L) within the weaning population. 1 This generated a letter from the House of Lords Public Services Committee (HLPSC) calling for an urgent government review into preventative measures, early intervention incentives and improved access to healthcare for children across the UK.2
