He was a middle-aged male with severe infection of the right leg which had already been amputated. Now, his left leg was infected too. An infectious diseases physician and orthopaedic surgeon suggested intravenous antibiotics and left leg amputation. Otherwise, he would not survive for long. He strongly refused them. Losing his right leg was challenging enough for him. How could he live with no legs now that his left leg had to be amputated too? He was a successful businessman in this area where the hospital was.
