Introduction In recent studies, embolization of the middle meningeal artery (MMAE) with liquid embolic agents has been shown to improve patients’ outcomes treated for subdural hematoma (SDH). However, there have been no studies yet reporting the use of Magic Glue (Balt Group) for MMAE.Aim of Study To evaluate the effectiveness and safety profile of Magic Glue used for MMAE.Method MMAE with Magic Glue performed at two institutions were retrospectively analyzed. Primary endpoint was the need for repeat surgery or MMAE. Secondary endpoints were technical or clinical complications.Results 51 patients (43 males, mean age 73.7±10.6 years) were included. 50 (98.0%) had symptomatic SDH. 20 (39.2%) patients had bilateral, 17 (33.3%) had right-sided, and 14 (27.5%) had left-sided SDH. Four patients (7.8%) did not receive additional surgery. 16 (31.4%) patients received bilateral MMAE. Magic Glue was diluted with Lipiodol in a 1:3 ratio. 9 patients (17.6%) required repeat surgery or MMAE due to recurrent or progressive SDH. Technical complications were reported for one (1.5%) procedure. 17 patients (25.4%) had clinical complications, out of which 14 resolved during follow up. No major strokes due to MMAE were reported.Conclusion MMAE with Magic Glue was feasible in our study, with a low rate of technical or persisting clinical complications, although the low number of patients does not permit definitive comparisons with previously published randomized studies.Conflict of Interest No
