The US Congress has clawed back about $8bn (£5.9bn; €6.8bn) in funding to continue to support PEPFAR, the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. The agency was originally due to lose funding in President Donald Trump’s cuts to foreign assistance programmes1 as part of his One Big Beautiful Bill economic reforms.2
