The Archivist ventures into the world of paediatric anaesthesia with a paper by Miyasaka KW et al [JAMA Pediatr 2025;179(7): 704–712. doi:10.1001/jamapediatrics.2025.0517]. This is a study examining electroencephalography (EEG)-guided anaesthesia management and potential reduction of emergence phenomenon (known as paediatric anaesthesia emergence delirium (PAED)) by minimising exposure to sevoflurane. What took my attention was that they were using 96.65%confidence limits for their precision. Why did they do that?
