Paediatric asthma as a disease has been recognised since ancient times. In this narrative review, the authors will trace some key points in the historic evolution of our understanding of this condition and its treatment across the last 100 years, referencing these points to articles published in Archives of Disease in Childhood (ADC) where possible.
