Seat belt use represents a cornerstone of road safety, one that has significantly reduced the risk of fatal and serious injuries resulting from motor vehicle collisions.1 Nevertheless, a substantial portion of drivers and passengers still travels without restraints,2 which underscores the importance of identifying modifiable behavioural factors. To date, only one study3 specifically examined the association between normal daytime sleepiness and the likelihood of not wearing a seat belt among occupational drivers. In general, poor sleep quality increases the incidence of errors and reduces the ability to concentrate.4 In this nationally representative study, seat belt use behaviours were evaluated in relation to sleep quality among Korean adults.
