Electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDSs) and, more recently, oral nicotine pouches (ONPs) are rapidly evolving, outpacing independent investigations of both physical and chemical properties of those emerging tobacco products. As part of our ongoing research on the health effects of ENDS and ONPs, we routinely surveil markets for both product types. Recently, on two separate occasions, we identified two products with the same brand name and flavour descriptor. Yet, they exhibited subtle changes in product packaging, suggesting that the products were not identical. In June 2022, we purchased two different PuffBar ENDS products, each labelled Mango 50 mg/mL in Roanoke, Virginia, USA. In March 2025, we bought two different ONPs labelled ZYN Spearmint 3 mg in Buffalo, New York, USA. We compared all product labelling, physical features and chemical content.
