In 2020, Scotland set a target to achieve zero HIV transmissions by 2030. Scotland has since made progress through increased use of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), more accessible HIV testing and effective antiretroviral treatment.1 We held consultations with four key HIV stakeholders in Scotland to discuss how sustained social stigma is impacting the 2030 goal. These stakeholders included sexual health consultants and charity leaders. The consultations highlighted that stigma continues to inhibit these strategies for prevention and care, but there are educational tools available to improve this.
