John Yudkin—not to be confused with his uncle John, the anti-sugar campaigner and author of the bestseller Pure, White and Deadly—had two passions beyond family: the pursuit of equity in global health; and Arsenal Football Club. Visitors to his study were greeted by a waist high statue of the Arsenal striker Ian Wright and what looked like every match day programme in the club’s history—a surprising interior design choice for a University College London professor of medicine.
