The single patient record (SPR), announced by the Department of Health and Social Care in October 2024, and introduced to Parliament in May 2026 via the NHS Modernisation Bill, is described as “a digital record that brings together a patient's health information in one, secure, easy to access place.”1 It is framed as a direct care solution: a means of ensuring that patients and clinicians can access a complete medical history.
