Access to abortion care is a human right1 and essential healthcare.2 The provision of safe and timely abortion care should therefore be a crucial component of obstetrics and gynaecology (O&G) as well as sexual and reproductive healthcare training.2 3 The newly established associate dean role for abortion care training, within NHS England, seeks to bridge gaps in abortion education and surgical training, ultimately improving patient safety and the quality of care provided.
