Lateral foot pain and swelling after inversion sprain

A 47-year-old woman presented with diffused left foot pain and focal lateral foot swelling after an inversion sprain. On clinical examination, there was focal swelling at the lateral foot with local tenderness, and no foot deformity was noted. An X-ray of her left foot was performed ( figure 1).
