Global research partnerships and the impact of inequitable research practices on systematic reviews

When we, Wangari Kinyanjui and Amy Patel, started our partnership while both at our respective medical schools, neither of us was oblivious to the challenges faced by low- and middle-income country (LMIC) researchers conducting research. This collaboration between the University of Nairobi (Wangari Kinyanjui) and the University of Oxford (Patel) was a tool to overcome some of these challenges. However, there were unexpected challenges which surfaced as we tried to conduct our research, which have resulted from decades of a research system which has disadvantaged LMIC interests.
