Health interventions can help remedy many of the hazards around us, whether disease, discomfort, uncertainty, or instability. Drugs for attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder have proved useful to alleviate core symptoms, but in a first of its kind a large trial emulation study shows that they lower the risk of a much broader range of outcomes in people with ADHD: aggressive behaviour, suicidal behaviour, substance misuse, transport accidents, and criminality (doi:10.1136/bmj-2024-083658).1
