A preterm infant weighing 1.88 kg was delivered via emergency caesarean section at 36 weeks’ gestation due to abnormal cardiotocography and suspected foetal compromise. The mother had poorly controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus (HbA1c 11.8%) complicated with nephropathy, retinopathy and chronic hypertension.
