A a woman in her late 50s, with a history of a cured follicular variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma, septoplasty for nasal septum deviation and a stable temporal meningioma under surveillance, presented to the Otorhinolaryngology Department with a 1-month history of external nasal swelling. The initial diagnosis was nasal vestibulitis, but the lesion persisted despite several antibiotic courses including amoxicillin/clavulanate acid, flucloxacillin and topical fusidic acid. Oral and topical corticosteroids were also ineffective.
