A woman in her 50s with a history of alcoholic cirrhosis underwent routine oesophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) as part of her regular surveillance. She had previously undergone balloon-occluded retrograde transvenous obliteration for gastric varices and was taking oral esomeprazole 20 mg daily for peptic ulcer prophylaxis.
