Children with a hearing loss are at an increased risk of abuse and neglect compared with their peers, leading to adverse childhood experiences which have a lifelong impact on health and development.1 2 Professionals often find it difficult to identify safeguarding concerns in outpatient clinics, particularly where communication challenges and time pressures exist and general outpatient policies do not account for the vulnerability and complexity seen in this population.3
