We read with interest the study by Eghrari and colleagues examining the link between gabapentin use and the later development of dementia and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in patients with chronic low back pain.1 The authors should be recognized for using a large national database and a long follow-up period. However, several important limitations may affect how the results should be interpreted.
