Background The MHRA approved the subcutaneous (SC) injection of Ocrelizumab in July 2024 as clinical trials showed that SC injection is equally effective as intravenous (IV) treatment. Our centre was one of the first to switch to SC injection in October 2024.Objective We evaluated service user satisfaction, safety, injection related side effects and day case unit utilisation after switching established patients from IV ocrelizumab to SC injection. Methods Patients completed a questionnaire assessing the time spent receiving the SC injection and the total time in hospital, convenience and overall satisfaction. Safety and infusion/injection related side effects were compared. Results At the time of abstract submission, >85 patients had switched and we expect >200 patients by May 2025. Preliminary results showed time spent in hospital reduced from >8 hours to ~3 hours. All patients found it more convenient. Most reported tolerable local side effects with only one being systematically unwell. Conclusion To our knowledge, this is the largest study of patient experience after switching from IV to SC ocrelizumab, and our data suggests this switch will have a significant impact by improving patients’ quality of life, reducing treatment time and increasing hospital day care unit capacity.anand.trip@nhs.net
