A 14-year-old previously healthy adolescent presented to the emergency department in a state of confusion and agitation. He had visual hallucinations, was aggressive towards his parents and spoke in out-of-context phrases. The day before, he had been evaluated for a generalised headache and mild fever. He had been discharged home with advice for symptomatic treatment.
