Introduction The European Specialty Examination in Gastroenterology and Hepatology (ESEGH) is increasingly becoming an integral part of specialist assessment in many European countries. Despite its mandatory requirement in the UK for certification, there is a lack of structured and dedicated preparation resources to sit this examination. The United European Gastroenterology Federation (UEG) awarded 25,000 Euros to the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) and the Malta Gastroenterology Association (MAG) to create and deliver the first accredited ESEGH preparation course that aligns with the curriculum goals.Methods The ‘UEG-BSG ESEGH Exam Masterclass’ was conducted as a one day in-person event in Manchester with the ability for on demand recording. The program delivered 7 comprehensive sessions and was carefully reviewed by experts to ensure it matches the official ESEGH blueprint. These included 17 case-based talks on key exam areas such as liver disease, IBD, nutrition, GI physiology, endoscopy and complex radiology. There was a special session on Psychology of the Exam. Feedback on quality of talks and their relevance to the needs of trainees was collected through a QR code.Results 145 delegates attended the course, exceeding the target of 100 attendees. This confirmed an obvious and urgent need for specific ESEGH preparation support. There was a high level of engagement, particularly in the interactive case discussion. The day ended with a long question and answer session and networking, whereby trainees could connect. Figure 1A summarises the post event delegate feedback (n = 72), over 80% of respondents rated the event and programme as excellent or very good. Top 5 highest-rated sessions by ‘Excellent’ scores are highlighted in figure 1B. Recommendation intent was high (mean score 9.49/10), with 70.8% rating ≥9/10. A substantial proportion (87.5%) reported current or intended British Society of Gastroenterology membership, indicating strong professional engagement.Conclusion The first UEG-BSG ESEGH Exam Masterclass was a huge success in filling a gap in trainee education, which was evident from the excellent attendance and active engagement. Through psychological preparation and specific clinical material relevant to the exam, the course offered practical assistance to the candidates and established a viable and scalable framework of gastroenterology training in the future.Abstract P449 Figure 1
