Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is a cornerstone of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).1 With <5 years remaining until the SDGs’ 2030 deadline, global health is at a critical juncture. While the goals’ progress dashboards track metrics like vaccination rates, service utilisation and financing flows, a deeper question remains unresolved: what does success mean if millions still die in pain, untreated and unsupported?
