Most doctors nowadays understand the concept of neurodiversity and find it useful. It’s a way of recognising that a diagnosis such as autism or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder may be helpful in some respects—for example, by pointing patients towards possible treatment—while also encouraging society to accept that there are different kinds of normal.
