Rebecca qualified from Bristol University in 1976 and became a consultant physician in geriatric medicine at the Royal United Hospitals Bath in 1987, having done her training at St Mary’s, Southampton, Portsmouth, and Exeter hospitals. She also spent time as a lecturer in Saskatoon, Canada, and as a fellow at Mount Zion Hospital, San Francisco. She spoke with fondness of these sojourns abroad and maintained friendships with those she met there. Rebecca excelled at being a good friend, keeping in touch and looking out for people, as well as being a generous and convivial host.
