Honey has long been used in wound care and continues to attract clinical interest. Its ongoing use in contemporary practice raises an ethical question: whether publicly funded healthcare institutions have a responsibility to formally evaluate the clinical use of table honey under defined conditions. Given established biological plausibility and informal off-protocol use, the absence of prospective evaluation raises ethical concerns. Institutional refusal to study such practices may fall short of appropriate ethical oversight.
