I developed, implemented and evaluated a context-specific injury surveillance system (ISS) for the U21 Maltese national football team. The aim was to capture continuous, year-round injury data for the national squad. To ensure the system was relevant and meaningful, it had to reflect the team’s routines and realities. However, implementing injury surveillance with limited resources is challenging. My PhD addressed this challenge by designing a practical, context-aware system that integrated into existing communication and medical practices.
