Images of a rare case of isolated chronic inflammatory changes in a gallbladder diverticulum: an incidental finding

A gallbladder diverticulum is an exceedingly rare entity, identified in only 0.1%–0.2% of cases, typically as an incidental finding during cholecystectomy. 1 2 Gallbladder diverticula result from developmental outpouchings of all three layers of the gallbladder wall and are usually asymptomatic.3 These diverticula can occur at the neck, body or fundus, with studies showing fundal location as most common.3 4 The presence of isolated inflammatory changes involving a gallbladder diverticulum, without concomitant gallbladder wall involvement, has not been previously documented in the literature.
