Establishing causality is a central objective of clinical research, and the gold standard for determining causality is the randomized controlled trial (RCT). However, not all questions can be answered by an RCT and propensity-score analyses (PSA) aim to use observational data to recreate the RCT structure, by balancing known covariates. While PSAs are an advanced statistical technique, methodological shortcomings in the PSA published by Eghrari et al1 should be addressed, especially considering the potential detrimental impact this article may have on patient care.
