O'Dowd highlights the dilemma facing international medical graduates (IMGs) in the NHS and the lack of clarity for these doctors now the prioritisation bill has been passed.1 As an IMG, I have been reflecting on my journey into the NHS over 27 years ago and the support and mentorship I received from several consultant physicians,2 predominantly UK medical graduates, who provided me with opportunities to thrive in the NHS.
