We read with great interest the article by Eghrari et al1 examining the risk of dementia and other forms of cognitive dysfunction following gabapentin prescription in patients with chronic low back pain. The authors shine a light on an uncomfortable possibility: gabapentinoids appear more effective at inducing cognitive dysfunction than at alleviating the pain for which they are so often prescribed.
