We read with great interest about the recent publication by Trebicka et al in Gut,1 in which the authors developed and validated the Chronic Liver Failure-Systemic Inflammation Gene score (CLIF-SIG) score to predict short-term outcomes in patients with acutely decompensated cirrhosis (AD). The study demonstrated the robustness of CLIF-SIG across multiple international cohorts, predominantly consisting of alcohol-related cirrhosis.
