In this paper by Boralevi and colleagues (BMJ 2026;392:e086277, doi:10.1136/bmj-2025-086277, published 6 January 2026), the authors report that figure 1 needs to be corrected. The number of individuals should correspond to participants only, and not the sum of the number of index cases and the number of participants.
