Social media platforms like WhatsApp have revolutionised global communication, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where a majority of the platform’s estimated 2 billion active users reside.1 2 This offers a tremendous opportunity for health communication efforts to reach new audiences, including directly messaging with users and indirectly as a tool for frontline workers. Published studies suggest that WhatsApp is widely adopted by public health practitioners and healthcare providers for vaccine promotion interventions.3–6
