Human immunoglobulins (IG) remain among the most vulnerable medicinal products in Europe, constrained by plasma donation capacity and the rapid expansion of authorised therapeutic indications.1 In 2022 Italy experienced one of the most critical shortages of the last decade, prompting the publication of national guidance by the Italian Medicines Agency (Agenzia Italiana del Farmaco, AIFA-CNS) to support structured IG stewardship.2 These recommendations explicitly emphasise multidisciplinary governance, standardised oversight and continuous monitoring of consumption.
