Background In 2022, eight out of seventeen cardiac rehabilitation programmes in North London meeting the British Association of Cardiovascular Prevention & Rehabilitation (BACPR) national minimum standards and certificated green.Aim To increase the number of CR programmes meeting the minimum standards across the region.Methods We did the following:Engaged & built relationships:We engaged clinicians, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) and key stakeholders across north London to encourage collaboration and promote the value of CR.This helped align services with BACPR standards, ensured local ownership and commitment to improving programme quality.Used data effectively:We used National Audit of Cardiac Rehabilitation (NACR) and local data effectively to measure performance, identify areas for improvement, and monitor progress.Data was used to drive decision-making and accountability within the cardiac rehabilitation programmes.Securing and using NHSE targeted funding:Targeted funding from NHS England in 22/23 and 23/24 was secured and used to fund priority areas and support data entry into the National Audit of Cardiac Rehabilitation (NACR).Partnership:We collaborated with Care City to produce a report focused on supporting NACR data capture in North London, identifying gaps and challenges.The recommendations from the report were applied to enhance data collection and evidence to secure funding.Results In the 2024, North London had increased to fourteen green certificated programmes meeting the BACPR minimum national standards and three amber certificated ( figure 1). Further analysis is needed in the coming year to assess impact on uptake and quality.
