Blass and colleagues’ nationwide study on dementia incidence and prevalence among US Medicare beneficiaries offers valuable insights into the shifting epidemiology of dementia in an ageing society.1 The finding that incidence is declining while prevalence continues to rise highlights a critical need for integrated, longitudinal approaches to healthy ageing, not only in cognitive health but also in other age related domains.
