We are keen that publications within the JECH follow the highest methodological standards and in this editorial we introduce some new recommendations for prospective authors. These include cover common pitfalls in population health research and reasons for rejection of papers, so addressing these points may help increase your chances of success. Note that this guidance does not replace relevant reporting requirements (examples provided below).
